Chowin' Down on Hamburgers...

Sterling Franklin

Originally, in the Garden of Eden, man didn't kill and eat the
animals, but rather ate the fruits of trees and had a more of vegetarian
diet. The first animal sacrifice was done by God when He made bloody
animal skins for Adam and Eve.

Genesis 1:29 - And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb
bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree,
in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be
for meat.

Since then, we do kill and eat meat. Is that wrong? You know,
sometimes I DO like to chow down on hamburgers! Meat is talked about a
lot in Scripture. Back in the time of Moses, the Levites ate the 'Holy
Flesh' or clean parts of the remnant of meat of sacrificed animals
(there were a lot of 'of's' in that sentence).

God has given us richly all things to enjoy...not to abuse, but enjoy
to His Glory. We can even eat and drink to the Glory of God, as we find
in Colossians 3. Any aspect of life can be glorifying to God, or it can
be sin.

1 Timothy 6:17 - Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be
not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God,
who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

Does God care about us as much as the animals?

Matthew 10:29-31
29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall
not fall on the ground without your Father.
30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
31 Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

That's awesome, though. Do you ever think of that? God has a running
count on how many hairs are on your head at a given time. Even when one
falls out, He sees. When one grows back, He sees. God is Awesome like
that. We think how Wonderful and Omniscient (All-Knowing) He is and it
just blows our mind!

When Jesus cast out the demon out of the demon-possessed man into the
herd of pigs, also, the pigs died, and the man was whole again. God
cares for humans. We are in His Image, and He loves us without measure.
Here are some of the things He Wills to do:

1 Timothy 2:4 tells us that He wills for 'all men to be saved, and to
come unto the knowledge of the truth.'

2 Peter 3:9 tells us that He wills for 'no man to perish, but for all
to come to repentance.'

Jesus' Message was 'Repent, for the Kingdom of God is at hand' and
commanded his Disciples to go out and preach that...

He sent His Only Son Jesus to die for the payment of our sins. Don't
TELL me He doesn't care for you! Jesus did no wrong, yet was 'made sin
for us' that we will live in Heaven for eternity upon Believing on His
Name, the Name above all Names! Every knee will bow and every tongue
confess that He is Lord - to the Glory of God the Father, and both
willing and unwilling will do so. The Willing will be rejoicing in
Praise, but the unwilling will likely wonder why they were so blind to
reject His Glorious Name.

God has given everyone a measure of Faith (Romans 12:3) and if you
personally haven't chosen Him who cares for you, you are missing out
until you do! I sincerely pray you do make that decision for Jesus
SOON, because life is MUCH better with Him #1 in your life!

Anyway...I can't let u go without some Psalm 8 action... Here are
verses 3 through 9...

3 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and
the stars, which thou hast ordained;
4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that
thou visitest him?
5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast
crowned him with glory and honour.
6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou
hast put all things under his feet:
7 All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;
8 The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth
through the paths of the seas.
9 O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

Amen! We are above animals, and there is something special about
humans, and that special something is called a spirit. There is a
battle going on for spirits worldwide, and each individual will either
go to Heaven with Jesus, or eternal torment and separation from God in
hell. Pray for opportunity for people to come to you and ask you about
your faith, and in God's Timing. Remember, always be ready to give an
account of your faith (1 Peter 3:15), and speak the truth in Love!

If you are a meat-eater, that's fine! I love my steak with A-1 steak
sauce. Mmmm Mmmm! :) You aren't eating your dead relatives, but are
eating God's creatures for food, that man can eat. It's not what goes
into your body that corrupts you, but what comes out.

Jesus was a WISE Philosopher and Scientist that nobody can top! He
knew it all, really.... Why are all these Scientists like Einstein and
Darwin quoted on their theories, when we had Jesus Christ, who knew
everything already?! Sheesh!

Well...my point on this topic is expressed very well in 1 Timothy
4:1-5, and I'll leave you with that. God bless you! Remember to not
just speak your Faith, but LIVE it and live it LOUDLY! :)

1 Timothy 4:1-5
1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some
shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and
doctrines of devils;
2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a
hot iron;
3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which
God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe
and know the truth.
4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it
be received with thanksgiving:
5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

Praise the Lord! So if you have convictions about eating meat, you
can be a vegetarian, but if you don't, eating meat is all right. I
personally prefer eating meat, but coming down on vegetarians who don't
discourage others would be wrong (see entirety of Romans 14 for
that...). God bless you this week and beyond, keep Praising Him to Whom
the Honor is due!
